When asked a question in Parliament on this matter, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while answering in Parliament, said that at present there is no intention of the government to start this facility again. It is worth noting that the government has stopped this exemption facility for the last two years.

Under this scheme, senior citizens get a discount of 50 to 55 percent in tickets. But, this facility has been abolished in the operation of the train after the Corona lockdown. Let us inform that about 7 crore senior citizens in the country were taking advantage of this scheme.

The government, while giving a written reply on the figures of travel of senior citizens in Parliament for two years during Corona, said that in the last two years, the number of travel of senior citizens in the train has increased.
