He and his pace have been missing from VfL Wolfsburg on the offensive since mid-December. In the 1-0 win against Union Berlin, U21 European champion Lukas Nmecha (23) celebrated his 30-minute comeback after a serious ankle injury.
Nmecha had to blow!
“It’s great to be back on the pitch,” said the striker, whose return recently had to be postponed. Nmecha: “I was already fit a week and a half ago, then I got a small strain. Everything is fine now.”
Everything can’t be all right yet, the national player now has to get used to the pressure of the competition again – also in terms of condition.
“I have to get fit again to last 90 minutes. At the end of the game I was a bit exhausted”, admits Nmecha with a smile. One realization helps him to classify his return: “I’ve already noticed that there are situations in which I can help the team.”
He almost even helped with a comeback goal. But Nmecha almost hit the left post from the goal line in the 69th minute.
