Vaccines: Emmanuel Macron denounces “profits on solidarity”

The President of the Republic calls on States for more transparency on the conditions of purchase of vaccines.

During a speech for the installation ceremony of the Academy of the World Health Organization in Lyon, Emmanuel Macron this Monday blasted the opacity of the conditions for ordering vaccines from the States by deploring that “Profit be made in the name of solidarity”.

“We need more transparency. Otherwise we exchange billions, absolutely staggering numbers of doses and when we compare it to what is happening on the ground, it is incomprehensible for the citizens ”, ruled the President of the Republic before calling for “More transparency, accountability and follow-up”.

Emmanuel Macron ensures that France will plead at the next G20 to be held in Rome on October 30 and 31 for “A clear code of conduct to which WHO Member States commit (…) which must say transparency on the purchasing conditions in the event of a pre-order, on the volumes, on the delivery conditions, on the pricing conditions ”.
