Petrol & Diesel Price Hike: The process of increasing the prices of petrol and diesel does not seem to be stopping. Petrol and diesel prices have increased once again for the second consecutive day today. Petrol and diesel prices have increased by 35 paise. After this, now petrol in the national capital Delhi has gone up to Rs 108, 29 paise per liter, while the price of diesel has reached Rs 97, 02 paise.
A day before this, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 35 paise in Delhi on Wednesday. After this, the new price of petrol was Rs 107.94 per liter and the price of diesel was Rs 96.67 per liter. Apart from this, petrol was being available in Mumbai at the rate of Rs 113.80 and diesel at Rs 104.75 per liter. On Wednesday, the price of one liter of petrol in Kolkata was Rs 108.45 and the price of diesel was Rs 99.78 per liter. In Chennai, the price of petrol was increased to Rs 104.83 per liter and that of diesel to Rs 100.92.
Across the border district of Madhya Pradesh, petrol 120
Anuppur district, bordering Madhya Pradesh, is bearing the brunt of the hike in fuel prices. On Wednesday, the price of petrol in the district reached close to Rs 120 per liter and diesel at Rs 110 per liter. Similarly, in Balaghat district bordering Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, the price of petrol reached Rs 119.23 per liter.
Abhishek Jaiswal, owner of a petrol pump in Bijuri town of Anuppur, bordering Chhattisgarh, told news agency PTI over phone that after an increase of 36 paise on Tuesday, the petrol price rose to Rs 120.4 per liter. While the price of diesel reached Rs 109.17 per liter after increasing by 37 paise.
Jaiswal said that petroleum is brought to Anuppur from Jabalpur oil depot, about 250 km from the district headquarter, hence fuel is expensive in the district as compared to other parts of the state due to high transportation cost. Ravi Vaidya, owner of a petrol pump on Lalbarra Road in Balaghat, said that the price of petrol and diesel in Balaghat reached Rs 119.23 and Rs 108.20 per liter respectively after increasing by 37 paise.
