And again he probably misses a tournament…
The unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic (34) is not allowed to compete in one big competition after the other because of his corona vaccination status.
After the Australian Open, Indian Wells and the Miami Open, the Serb will probably not be allowed to participate in the Canadian Open in Montreal either!
Once again, the entry regulations put a spanner in the works. Because even in Canada, travelers must be verifiably vaccinated. If the restrictions in the country remain as they are at the moment, Djokovic will definitely not be able to start.
There is still hope for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Since the tournament will not take place until August, relaxed regulations could make entry in the summer possible.
Tournament director Eugene Lapierre on “Le Journal de Montreal”: “We’re not under any particular pressure. Depending on whether the corona situation improves or worsens, the entry conditions may also be adjusted. As things stand today, he could not start.”
Participation in Montreal would be immensely important for the “Djoker”. The winner receives 1000 world ranking points. For comparison: Djokovic currently has 8465 points in first place, while Daniil Medvedev (26) is close to him in second place with 8410 points.
By the way: Djokovic will definitely be able to play some tournaments this year – including the Serbian Open, the Monte Carlo Masters and the French Open.
