Due to which only about 40 thousand income tax returns are being filed daily on the new portal. According to experts, according to this, it will take four years to file 6 crore returns. On the other hand, if we talk about the old portal of the Income Tax Department, about 49 lakh IT returns were filed daily on it. However, the last date for filing returns is September 30.
Let us inform that the Income Tax Department had launched its new e-filing portal (www.incometax.gov.in) on June 7. According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), only 40 thousand income tax returns are being filed daily on this new portal, which is very less than the old portal.
Many problems are coming on the new portal
Taxpayers are facing many technical problems on this new portal. Taxpayers are also not able to fill income tax returns of previous years in this. Also, the facilities of e-processing and digital signature certificate have not been started on this new portal till now. Four out of seven income tax return forms are still not available on the portal. Also, refund issue requests are also not being filed on the portal.
According to CBDT, continuous efforts are being made to remove all these problems. For this, a series of meetings are going on between senior officials of the Finance Ministry and the team of Infosys and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). CBDT said that soon the taxpayers will get rid of these problems.
Old portal should be restarted
Many Chartered Accountants (CAs) believe that the government should restart the old portal until the problems coming in this new portal are removed.
