Teleworking with your feet in the sand or in the water … It is the choice of thousands of workers who have decided to put their suitcases in usually tourist destinations to escape the coronavirus, confinements or even the curfew. Fair weather, weaker health restrictions and suitable infrastructure, some countries have natural assets but have also decided to invest to bring in this new population of “digital nomads”.
In the Canaries, the government is investing half a million euros to attract around 30,000 teleworkers in five years. The strategy is to make tourism professionals aware of this new clientele, but also to encourage international companies to choose the archipelago as a telework destination for their employees. “This will enrich the Canarian tourism sector and will make it possible to rejuvenate the destination, in addition to attracting highly qualified professionals”, highlighted Yaiza Castilla
