They don’t roar quite as loudly as the engines of the previous DTM cars, but they too are powerful! The new DTM tests at the Lausitzring.
Almost all the pilots in Schipkau (Brandenburg) were there until Thursday. The last practice runs before the start of the season in Monza in mid-June. In focus: Sophia Flörsch (20). The Munich resident makes her DTM debut in an Audi.
The talent: “The biggest difference to the series I’ve been in so far: endless photo shoots, one interview after the other.” Because it attracted more attention from year to year.
Nevertheless, she could test enough. “I don’t like the Lausitzring at all. Too wavy, no traction, I’ve never won anything here, ”she says. But there are seven other racing weekends. “It will certainly not work at the beginning, but the goal is to finish in the points at some point this season.”
The second racing weekend of this season will take place in Lusatia from July 23rd to 25th. Until then, Flörsch wants to get used to the new car and learn to master it. Because she has never sat in a GT3 car. So far, the formula racers, i.e. the cars without a roof, have been her profession.
The fans, if they are allowed to come in July, can then look forward to top motorsport. With Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Mercedes, there will then be six manufacturers to admire, four more than before.
McLaren will only take part in three races, however, Lamborghini plans to bring a second car to the start during the season. The DTM is alive again.
