Tragic news from Holland!
Ajax talent Noah Gesser († 16) died in a car accident in IJsselstein on Friday evening. This is confirmed by a spokesman for the club.
His older brother did not survive the accident either.
According to the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf”, the car in which the brothers were on the move came into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a taxi van. The taxi driver was immediately taken to a hospital. According to the police, he was physically fine.
Ajax Amsterdam wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning: “Ajax is deeply injured after the tragic death of our youth player Noah Gesser. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and relatives. “
Gesser switched to the youth of the Dutch record champions in 2018 and was considered a great storm talent, scoring eleven goals in six league games for the U16 team. In the coming season he should play for Ajax Amsterdam’s U17s.
A club statement says that the Ajax professionals will play with a black ribbon in their test match against RB Leipzig (4 p.m.) today. In addition, a minute’s silence should be observed.
