First sensation, then disqualification – a rollercoaster of emotions for Formula 1 star Sebastian Vettel (34) in Budapest!
Now his team Aston Martin has filed a protest against the disqualification after his strong second place in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The British racing team announced on Thursday evening.
After the spectacular Grand Prix on Sunday at the Hungaroring, the team had already made a declaration of intent and thus gained 96 hours to make a decision.
According to the Technical Delegate, only 0.3 liters of fuel were found in Vettel’s car after the end of the race. At least one liter is required. In the announcement, Aston Martin confirmed that, according to their own data, there were still 1.74 liters in the car. In addition, there are indications that were not available at the time of the punishment.
Vettel had only had to admit defeat in the race by sensation winner Esteban Ocon (24) from France in the Alpine. Lewis Hamilton (36), who finished third with Mercedes, moved up to second due to Vettel’s disqualification. The seven-time world champion from Great Britain took the lead in the overall standings with an eight point lead over Max Verstappen from Red Bull.
