A stroke of luck looks different!
Schalke’s captain Danny Latza (32) injured himself again during his 17-minute mission in St. Pauli (1: 2).
The midfield veteran, whom the relegated man brought back from Mainz for free, will be out with a muscle injury in the finals of the year against Nuremberg (Friday, 6.30 p.m. / Sky) and at HSV (December 18).
Latza away by January: the tragic captain!
Sports director Peter Knäbel 55), sports director Rouven Schröder (46) and coach Dimitrios Grammozis (43) had planned the “Schalke boy” (born in Gelsenkirchen) as the promotion leader. Now he is a star of concern and a symbol of what has been a gray season so far.
► The injuriesn
At the start against HSV (1: 3), Latza suffered a serious injury to the ligament in an unfortunate duel and slammed away for ten compulsory games. Before the game against Sandhausen (5: 2), a bruise stopped him, according to the club. At the Millerntor, he now allegedly tore a muscle fiber.
► The services
After the three-month compulsory break, Latza lacked fitness and form. It was more of a burden than animation.
In his seven competitive appearances (4 starting eleven, 3 substitutes) Schalke has an extremely bad record: only one win, one draw, five defeats – including the cup failure at third division 1860 (0: 1).
Latza away by January – like top striker Simon Terodde (33), who also has a muscle injury.
It is questionable whether at least Marius Bülter (28 / abnormal blood values after booster vaccination) will come back against Nuremberg. He and Dominick Drexler (31 / battered) shake.
Schalke staggered towards the key game.
