Schalke collects 26.5 million euros for a gaming license!
BILD reported at the beginning of June that the decision to sell had definitely been made at the time. After reaching an agreement with the buyer, the licensor “Riot Games” has now also approved the deal.
For Schalke, there is no alternative to the business as it is worth gold. As a reminder: In 2019, the club paid 8 million euros for professional esports entry. In view of the financial losses caused by the Corona crisis and the relegation to the 2nd division, the sale was now necessary.
The originally hoped for 30 million euros for the surrender of the license was not achieved.
Nevertheless, the clammy Pott Club (217 million euros in debt) can still look forward to a whopping 18.5 million euros in profit!
