Ruchi Soya’s profit increased to 1018 crores after Patanjali acquisition, highest ever since inception

After the acquisition of Ruchi Soya Industries Limited (Ruchi Soya) by Baba Ramdev-owned Patanjali, since the acquisition of Ruchi Soya, the highest ever EBITDA (EBITDA i.e. profit out of which interest, tax, depreciation, and Debt discharge has not been deducted). In the financial year 2021, EBITDA increased by 122 percent to Rs 1.18.37 crore. Which is the highest EBITDA ever since its inception in 1986.

The company’s EBITDA grew by 5.57 per cent to Rs 270.60 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2021, showing a year-on-year growth of 272 basis points. With an increase of 24.35 percent in FMCG, the revenue increased to 16 thousand 383 crores. The company’s income grew 51% to Rs 4859.5 crore during the quarter.

The company’s PAT increased by more than 203% to Rs 681 crore in the financial year as compared to Rs 314 crore in the March quarter, showing a growth of 38%. Ruchi Soya’s branded business vertical, including brands sold under royalty arrangement, generated sales of Rs 3455.96 crore, a company statement said. Contributed 71.12 per cent in the quarter ended March 31, 2021.


Last month, the company started marketing biscuits, cookies, rusks and other allied bakery products under the Patanjali brand name in India as per a business transfer agreement with Patanjali Natural Biscuit Pvt Ltd.

Earlier this month, the company started marketing breakfast cereals, atta (wheat) noodles under the Patanjali brand name in India as per an assignment agreement with Patanjali Ayurved Ltd.

The company has forayed into 100% vegetarian nutraceutical and wellness products by initially launching 10 FMCG products under the joint branding of Nutrela and Patanjali.

On December 18, 2019 Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali group which is one of the leading FMCG groups in India acquired Ruchi Soya on completion of CIRP and Patanjali resolution plan.
