Real MAdrid: Last-minute compensation: Kroos saves hope for champions

We would have liked to have had such a championship fight in the Bundesliga until the end …

Four teams can still become champions in Spain three game days before the end. Atlético Madrid (77 points), Barcelona (75), Real Madrid (75) and even Sevilla FC (71)! With a last-minute goal from Toni Kroos, Real Madrid still scored a 2-2 draw against the Europa League record champion from Seville (6 titles).

Barca and Atlético had also drawn 0-0 on Saturday.

In the first half an hour, Real first has to digest two blows in the neck.

► 12th minute: The ball is in goal, but Benzema’s header is blown back by the VAR. Flanker Odriozola was wafer-thin offside.

►25. Minute: Seville takes the lead. Fernando Reges prevails in the penalty area and nets ice cold.

At Real, not much is possible in the first run. The Champions League out against Chelsea has left its mark. Like 2018/19, a season without a title threatens.

►67. Minute: A flash of inspiration from Toni Kroos. The national player serves Asensio, who was substituted a few seconds earlier, and who pulls straight away and scores to make it 1-1.

►77. Minute: Benzema runs up to Seville goalkeeper Bono, is liked by him. However, Seville gets the penalty! When the chance emerged, there was a handball in the Real penalty area by Eder Militao. Crazy! Rakitic transforms cool – 2-1 Sevilla!

►90 + 4 minutes: Kroos just holds on to it! His shot is deflected by Diego Carlos untenable for Bono. But still the balance.

What a tension! For Atlético it would be the first championship since 2014. Diego Simeone’s (51) team cannot afford to lose points because Barca and Real are lurking. Sevilla, on the other hand, have to hope for slips of the competition.
