Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga
The Yoga Alliance Prenatal and Postnatal Teacher Training program focuses on preparing graduates to teach prenatal yoga. The course is designed for all levels of experience and pregnancy stages, and teaches you to teach children as well as expecting mothers. To obtain a certification, a prenatal yoga training program requires a minimum of 120 contact hours and must be completed within four years. To gain certification, you must first complete a teacher certification course, a prerequisite for teaching prenatal and postnatal classes.
A certified Yoga Alliance Prenatal and Postnatal Teacher Training course will teach you how to safely lead a prenatal and postnatal yoga class. Once you complete your training, you’ll receive a certificate and meet the standards for childbirth education and yoga. Once you become a certified RPYT, you can teach prenatal and postnatal classes, and the certification is recognized by the Yoga Association. The RPYT designation is available only to current members of the organization.
In addition to learning how to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga, you’ll learn how to mentor expectant mothers and prepare them for parenthood. You’ll also learn how to create a safe and nurturing environment for pregnant women. While teaching asanas, you’ll need to tap into a woman’s intuitive wisdom and empower her to find her inner strength. This is easier said than done.
