Premier League: Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City – Missed shot gives Klopp hope

Will the title fight be exciting again?

Manchester City missed important points at Crystal Palace. The Skyblues couldn’t get more than 0-0, despite a multitude of great chances, hitting the post and even a shot over the empty goal!

27 minutes: Cancelo only hits the left post (28′). The surprised Laporte’s follow-up shot goes over the goal from a few meters.

Bad for City, good for the Reds: Now only four points separate Jürgen Klopp (54) and Pep Guardiola (51) – and Liverpool FC have a game less.

Irre: Although the Citizens lacked the luck of the game, Guardiola did without changes and thus refrained from outside impulses. He left the hapless team on the pitch for 90 minutes.

The underdog from London won the first leg 2-0, it was one of only three league defeats by Manchester.

After the 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, Guardiola changed his starting XI to six positions. Rotation at the time of the season when a broad squad like City’s is worth its weight in gold!

In the 14th minute, a shot from one of the newcomers created the first big chance. De Bruyne shoots from the second row, the Eagles goalie can’t get hold of the ball and Bernardo Silva pushes the rebound wide of the goal. There was more in it!

The same picture in the second half. But De Bruyne also fails at the post. And again the margin is not there, this time Vicente Guaita (35) is strong!

City are still the much better team. But the team missed one chance after the other. That’s how it stays goalless. A result that the self-sacrificing Crystal Palace deserved in the end – albeit with the necessary portion of luck.
