Day of decisions in Europe’s top leagues!
In Ligue 1, Lille wins the championship with a 2-1 win at Angers! Paris wins at Brest 2-0 despite an embarrassingly missed penalty from Neymar, but that is no longer of any use to PSG.
The starting position in Ligue 1: Lille is one point ahead of Paris before the last matchday. With a win at Angers, the first championship since 2011 would be perfect. Paris, on the other hand, have to hope for a mistake by Lille in order to continue their series of titles in Ligue 1.
Lille takes an early lead through David (10th) – after a presentation by ex-Bayern star Renato Sanches. Paris gets a penalty, but Neymar embarrassingly misses, the ball clearly misses the goal (19th)!
Paris still leads with a strange goal, Di Maria’s corner is deflected into his own goal by Faivre (37th). But hopes for PSG are fading, Yilmaz converts a penalty to 2-0 for Lille (45th + 1) shortly before the break. Mbappé scores the meaningless 2-0 (71st) – is it his last goal for PSG? After Angers’ goal to 2-1 against Lille (90 + 2) PSG has hope again, but it stays that way.
In the end, Lille celebrates the championship, while Paris does not finish first in Ligue 1 for the first time since 2017. Frustration with Neymar, Mbappé and Co.!
Monaco can look forward to the battle for third place in the Champions League qualification. Lyon lost 3-2 to Nice, Monaco struggled in Lens and only played 0-0, but came third thanks to the Lyon mistake. Happy ending for Niko Kovac at the end of his first season in Monaco!
The starting position in Italy: Juventus Turin, Milan and Naples are still fighting for the Champions League. Juve around superstar Cristiano Ronaldo no longer has it in their own hands: With victories in Naples and Milan, Juve only comes in fifth and has to be content with the Europa League.
The big surprise in the Juve line-up! Cristiano Ronaldo is just sitting on the bench. Juve clearly won 4-1 in Bologna (goal scorers: 2x Morata, Rabiot, Chiesa), but had to look anxiously at the results in the other games.
And what is the competition doing? Milan won 2-0 at Atalanta Bergamo with two penalties converted by Kessie (43./90.+2). But Napoli messes up Juve in the premier class: With Rrahmani, coach Gattuso’s team is in the lead (60th), but Faraoni equalizes for Hellas Verona to make it 1-1 (69th).
Should CR7 stay with Juve, he can at least make another attempt in the Champions League. After the final whistle, he cheers with his teammates.
