HSV – First transfer decision: Josha Vagnoman stays!

At least one decision has already been made before the transfer deadline: U21 European champion Josha Vagnoman (20, contract until 2024) will not leave the Volkspark during this changeover period.

Vagnoman was considered a hot candidate a few months ago to give HSV financial leeway for possible purchases with a sale.

The role then fell to Amadou Onana (20), who moved to France champion Lille for seven million euros plus bonus payments.

Vagnoman and his family have long been reluctant to move. In August, however, discussions were held with interested associations. There were inquiries from the Bundesliga, England and Italy.

But there was no real speed anywhere. There are probably several reasons for this. The HSV demanded a replacement in the Onana order of magnitude. This already limited the circle of possible buyers.

What’s more: After his hamstring tore at the start of the season, the outside defender injured himself again at the derby at St. Pauli (2: 3). A tendon tear. This means that the youngster will only be able to intervene again in October.

Vagnoman remains. For HSV – thanks to the Onana millions – probably no problem. On the contrary. In terms of sport, the youngster can certainly help. And – the Hamburgers can still sell it next year …
