Yesterday Oliver Bierhoff (53) proudly announced that he could train “with a full band”. The joy about it only lasted for a short time. A little later, Jonas Hofmann (28) injured himself during the first session in Herzogenaurach. The Gladbach professional had to stop training and was absent from the second team training session this morning.
It is still unclear how serious Hofmann’s injury is. Investigations are currently underway, but the midfielder is still at the DFB camp and was there for the official team photo this morning.
Should the form-strong Gladbacher fail longer, national coach Jogi Löw (61) could nominate another player until the first game of the DFB-Elf. BILD knows: Since the squad has been expanded by three players to 26 instead of 23 due to the high stresses during the Corona season, Löw sees his team broad enough. Whether he would actually nominate a star is at least questionable.
