Hannover 96: Not in the squad! Mike Frantz and Lukas Hinterseer shaved

“We’ll see who’s ready to do the meters”, Christoph Dabrowski (43) announced before the game against Regensburg. With two experienced professionals, the 96 coach was apparently not convinced that they could – or want to – do it.

Bang before kick-off: Dabro shaves Frantz and Hinterseer!

Oldie Mike Frantz (35) was also missing from the 20-man squad, as was goalless striker Lukas Hinterseer (31). Both had to go to the stands, but U23 strikers Moussa Doumbouya (24) and Mick Gudra (21) were there on the bench.

Frantz (almost 300 professional games) missed two days of training due to calf problems. But the midfielder was back on Thursday and Friday. Nevertheless, it was not enough for a squad place.

Hinterseer (50 second division goals in 142 games) caused trouble during the international break. After a frustration foul on young Tim Walbrecht (20), Dabrowski stopped training a week ago. The Austrian was fined that should close the case.

“We have discussed and clarified this internally,” said Dabrowski on Monday. “For me, the subject is ticked off.” So probably not quite, as the expulsion from the squad for the game against Regensburg shows.

This makes it obvious that Hinterseer no longer has a future at Hannover 96 – despite a contract until 2023. The ex-national player (13 appearances) has not scored a goal for the Reds in 15 games so far. Everything boils down to an early separation in the summer.
