Hannover 96: Extra shift from Captain Marcel Franke

He wasn’t on the pitch for long. But the short appearance gives hope for Saturday.

Here the captain torments himself.

Marcel Franke (28) practiced on Tuesday for around 30 minutes away from the team with fit maker Markus Böker.

He ran, did a few ball exercises, ran again – and left the all-around facility for the stadium.

Everything on target is what the Reds say. Franke should get back on Wednesday, his deployment in Karlsruhe (Saturday, 1.30 p.m.) will not be endangered.

The captain had to be replaced against Paderborn (0-0) with muscle problems. Very bitter for 96: Shortly afterwards, defense buddy Julian Börner (30) flew from the field.

As expected, Börner was banned for two games, missing in Karlsruhe and also against HSV (December 5th). Only in Ingolstadt (December 11th) is he allowed to run again – and has to be careful that he is not immediately banned again. Börner already has four yellow ones.

In Karlsruhe, coach Jan Zimmermann is planning central defense with Franke and Luka Krajnc (27). Marc Lamti (20) is actually set for the bank, but the German-Tunisian is flat.

Against Paderborn, midfield clearer Gaël Ondoua helped out after Börner’s dismissal in defense and did the unfamiliar job very well. Ondoua was again absent from training yesterday – after-effects of the booster vaccination on Monday.
