Hannover 96: 6-day job guarantee – Zuber torments himself through the week

The end is near.

For Kenan Kocak (40), Sunday is over. With the final whistle against Nuremberg, around 5:20 p.m., he did his 96 job. The contract (originally until 2023) has been terminated, successor Jan Zimmermann (41, contract until 2023) will take over for the new season.

At least the coach question has been resolved – but not much more than that.

Together with Kocak, sports director Gerry Zuber (45) received a “job guarantee until the end of the season” from Boss Martin Kind (77) just under four weeks ago – although he too has a contract until 2023. This job guarantee expires in six days.

Zuber has been struggling through the past week. Whether it’s just the last days of the messed up season or its last at 96 is still not clear.

The fact is: The Austrian is presented internally and publicly almost every day. Unworthy.

When searching for a trainer, Zuber was left out and found out about the Zimbo commitment immediately before the announcement. For this, youth scout Dieter Schatzschneider – whose boss Zuber is formal! – publicly defame: “A strong sports director has to come.”

At the same time, the child refuses to make any decision and negotiates with successor candidates (Bickel, Wohlgemuth). Slomka is traded as a favorite, and there is apparently contact with Schindelmeiser and Kientz.

How should Zuber feel about it – or work?

Most of the new supervisory team should now be in place, but the current physios, fitness and rehabilitation trainers don’t know anything yet. And the sports director can only shrug his shoulders.

Most will be happy that the (season) end is in sight.
