Gladbach – Augsburg 1: 1: Gladbach does not win – and nobody knows why

Clear case of missed victory!

Gladbach leads 1-0 against Augsburg for a long time, but then concedes the late equalizer from Caligiuri (88th).

Things are going well for Borussia.

5th minute: Augsburg keeper Gikiewicz can only fend off an Embolo shot at the front, Stindl tries first, then Neuhaus shoots from the edge of the penalty area and sinks the leather – 1: 0!

Neuhaus shoots the Jogi frustration from his soul!

Gladbach’s Embolo then has to decide the game: The Swiss appears alone in front of Gikiewicz, but only hits the post (60th). In the 84th minute he is already past the Augsburg goalkeeper, but only shoots against the side netting.

Borussia think about it – and one more man for over 20 minutes. The substitute Framberger (54th for Gumny) is warned twice within four minutes (62nd / 66th) and flies off with yellow and red. First the right-back fouls Gladbach’s Wolf, then he commits a tactical foul on Embolo.

Since Gladbach doesn’t close the bag, what happens often happens: The defense – in the person of Ginter and Lainer – can’t get the ball away, Caligiuri just hits it, the ball deflected by Wendt hits next to the right post.

► But there is also good news for Borussia! Gladbach’s national player Jonas Hofmann (28) said before the game at Sky that he was injured “not as badly” in the 1-0 win against the Czech Republic, “as was initially communicated” (muscle torn). His plan now is to be back on the pitch before Christmas.
