Third game for FC St. Pauli in a week. So it stands to reason that coach Timo Schultz (44) will change the staff on Sunday against Nuremberg.
“If we have the opportunity to bring in freshness in one position or the other, then we will definitely do that too,” says Schultz. Candidates are striker Maximilian Dittgen (26) and midfielder Jackson Irvine (28).

The central defense, however, remains unchanged with Philipp Ziereis (28) and James Lawrence (29). Jakov Medic (23) is not yet ready to go after his nose operation on Tuesday. Schultz: “We hope that he can be back on the training ground at the beginning of next week.”
Sebastian Ohlsson (28) should appear again as a right-back. Competitor Luca Zander (26) had a cold. Schultz: “We’ll try out in training whether that makes sense or not.”
There is a scramble again for the vacuum cleaner position in front of the defense. Schultz: “With Benatelli, Aremu and Smith we have three who interpret it very differently. Smith did really well against Sandhausen after a long break from injury for 65 minutes. “
Either way – Schultz’s goal is clear: “Last year we looked good in Nuremberg (2: 1, editor), maybe we can repeat that.” Then Pauli will remain the front runner.
