In defense, St. Pauli’s Jakov Medic (23) actually had one or two snags this time in the 2-2 win against Aue. But what the Croatian battering ram showed in the attack had something of a force of nature.

When he headed the goal to make it 1-1 after Eric Smith’s free-kick cross (30th), Medic rammed opponent Malcolm Cacutalua in the direction of the goal. The Auer crashed into the net frame and had to be treated. Medic checked immediately if everything is ok.
For Medic it was the first goal in the 2nd division for St. Pauli – and for Timo Schultz a confirmation. The coach: “A player like Jakov has such a punch, the power, the quality. His header strength is enormous at the back, but also at the front. He will definitely score more goals.”
Of course, Medic could best continue tomorrow in the cup against Dortmund. The central defender has already scored once in the cup, in a 3-2 win in the first round in Magdeburg. In any case, after this appearance, he should be given preference over competitor James Lawrence (29) against BVB.
