Are Bayern helping themselves again in Leipzig?
Dayot Upamecano (€23/42.5 million transfer fee), Marcel Sabitzer (€28/€15 million) and coach Julian Nagelsmann (€34/up to €25 million) only switched from RB to Munich last summer.
Now the record champions want the next Leipzig top star!
As BILD has already reported, Bayern is currently very interested in midfield ace Konrad Laimer (24/contract until 2023).
Discussions are already underway. Coach Julian Nagelsmann in particular is a big Laimer fan and is committed to moving his ex-player to Munich. The coach appreciates Laimer’s duel strength, his work against the ball. He once called him the “monster ball conquest machine”.
Sports director Hasan Salihamidžić met consultant Björn Bezemer from the agency “ROOF” in Mallorca last Friday, he looks after Laimer. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is now reporting on an entry-level offer that Bayern are preparing.
BILD can confirm this information, but also knows that RB does not want to sell the Austrian. Internally, Leipzig coach Domenico Tedesco (36) braces himself against Laimer’s departure, which is set under him.
Since Tedesco took office in December, Laimer has only not played in the game against Freiburg (1-1), otherwise he was only absent injured. In order to not only convince in the cup and in the Europa League next year, but also to be able to attack in the league, Laimer should stay.
Bayern were already interested in the national player last year, but even then RB put a stop to a possible change. Nagelsmann coached Laimer from 2019 to 2021 and is a big fan of the midfield worker.
According to BILD information, the people of Leipzig would only start thinking about an offer beyond the 20 million euro mark.
Bayern will probably not want to pay this price at the moment. However, the Munich team urgently needs reinforcements in midfield. Corentin Tolisso (27/contract expires) will probably go on a free transfer in the summer and Marc Roca (25) and Sabitzer were not at Bayern level this season.
Bayern don’t want to pay that price at the moment. Laimer himself only wants to think about his future after the cup final against Freiburg on May 21st. But it’s also clear: after last summer, the people of Leipzig don’t want to lose another star to Bayern.
