FC Bayern in quarantine? How the Munich health department is doing now

Corona madness at FC Bayern Munich.

On Wednesday Alphonso Davies (21) trained in a good mood with his Bayern colleagues on Säbener Straße. Three hours later, the next Corona hammer hit the people of Munich! Davies got it too. There were initially nine (!) Bayern stars in quarantine.

But surprise on Thursday lunchtime: Corentin Tolisso (27), who was infected while on vacation in France, appeared on the premises of Säbener Strasse around 12 p.m. on the way to team doctor Dr. Jochen Hahne (43). According to the “kicker” there is a small chance that he could free himself up in time. It looks similar with Kingsley Coman (25). This coincides with BILD information. They were the first to be infected with the virus and, as a fully vaccinated person, are allowed to test themselves free on the 7th day using a rapid PCR or antigen test. According to “kicker” there is also hope for Omar Richards (23).

However, since it cannot be ruled out that left-back Davies has the highly infectious Omicron variant, the entire rest of the team may still have to be quarantined. If that were the case, the start of the second half of the season against Gladbach on Friday (8.30 p.m.) would have to be postponed.

Right now everything indicates that the game will take place. The German Football League (DFL) wants to orientate itself on a decision of the Munich health department. BILD explains how this works now:

The health department checks, among other things, who is a close contact with Davies. In other words: Who, for example, sat next to him in the cabin or with whom he generally had closer contact.

A press spokeswoman on BILD: “After receiving notification of a positive test from a person residing in Munich, the health department (GSR) will contact the infected person (IP) as soon as possible. The IP is asked about their state of health and the domestic and personal environment, including relevant contact persons, receives all the necessary information and is placed in quarantine. The health department also determines the contact persons 1st category (KP1) according to the criteria of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). People who are identified as KP1 by the health department will be contacted by the GSR, possibly quarantined and tested. This procedure is used for every infected person, regardless of their profession, club or league membership. “

Even before the new corona outbreak, the German record champions had tightened the corona rules again significantly due to the Omikron variant and the current pandemic situation.

Bavaria has been testing much more closely since the end of December and has intensified all hygiene measures. This concerns in particular the observance of the distance rules, the wearing of masks or also the significant reduction of contact in the area of the players.

Goretzka is out, Süle is fit

In addition to the nine corona cases, Leon Goretzka (26) is also likely to be out of the Gladbach game. The midfielder was absent from team training and only trains individually. According to BILD information, Goretzka wants to get really fit and not risk another setback after his problems with the patellar tendon.

On the other hand, good news from Niklas Süle (26): He was able to train with the team again!
