Eintracht Frankfurt: Ache storms to the Olympics

Bitter tears turn into tears of happiness!

U21 national coach Stefan Kuntz brings Eintracht joker Ragnar Ache (22) for the Olympics. The striker will be nominated after Josha Vagnoman (20) from HSV was injured.

For Ache, taking part in the Olympic Games is like gold. Because because of two protracted tendon injuries in his thigh, he first missed the European Championship with the U21s last season, then – after he had fought his way back – also the Olympic nomination. There were tears.

In the last game of the past season, Ache was back in the Bundesliga for the first time. After being substituted on, he made it 3-1 in stoppage time.

His first Bundesliga goal in his first season with only seven short appearances. Overjoyed and with tears in his eyes, the unlucky fellow was hugged by the whole team.

Under the new Eintracht trainer Oliver Glasner (46), the striker started the preparation and drew attention to himself. Kuntz: “I am very grateful to Eintracht that they support our Olympic team.” Ache will be in the squad for the test against Honduras in Japan on Tuesday. He has scored once in three international matches so far.

Board member Markus Krösche (40): “We are happy for Ragnar. He will enjoy this experience. And of course we keep our fingers crossed for him and Stefan Kuntz’s team. “
