After corticosteroids in early 2020 and interleukin 6 antagonists in July, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially recommended a third treatment against Covid, the synthetic antibodies to Regeneron, but only in certain specific cases . According to an opinion of WHO experts published in the journal “The British Medical Journal”, this treatment is recommended in “patients with non-severe forms of Covid who are at high risk of hospitalization”, such as the elderly or those whose immune system is weakened (by cancer or after an organ transplant, for example).

It is recommended in patients with “severe or critical disease and who are HIV negative, that is, who have not developed their own antibody response” despite infection. “For all other types of Covid-19 patients, it is unlikely that the benefits of this antibody treatment will be significant,” said the review in the press release accompanying this notice.
