Covid-19: vaccination extended to “fragile” adults from Saturday, to all adults on June 15

Thursday, April 29, President Emmanuel Macron announced, in the regional press, the opening of vaccination to all obese people over 18 years old, citing the figure of 2.3 million French people concerned. “He spoke about obesity, because obesity is the first chronic disease, or the first risk factor, apart from age, which exposes people to severe forms”, explained Olivier Véran on Franceinfo.

“But we are obviously opening the vaccination also to people who present with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney or heart failure”, added the minister, specifying that these new rules would prevail from 1er may. “In total, we are extending vaccination to some 4 million fragile French people”, he said. Until now, adults under the age of 50 were only eligible for vaccination if they had a “Very high risk of severe form of Covid-19”, such as people with cancer on treatment.

550,000 injections Thursday

50-55 year olds from May 15, over 18s from June 15

In the wake of the Minister of Health, Emmanuel Macron made a series of tweets on Friday at midday which formalized the next key dates for vaccination. Thus, all 50-55 year olds will be able to make an appointment for an injection as of May 15.

Finally, all adults aged 18 and over, without restriction, will be able to do the same from June 15, announced the head of state.
