Covid-19: EU orders 1.8 billion vaccines from Pfizer until 2023

The President of the European Commission assured that vaccination “is progressing well”.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday announced a new contract to purchase up to 1.8 billion doses of anti-Covid vaccines from BioNTech-Pfizer, in a message posted on Twitter (see below).

The contract includes a firm order for 900 million doses and an option for another 900 million. These new deliveries, planned for this year and until 2023, will notably allow “adapt to new variants of the coronavirus“, But also”vaccinate children and adolescents“.
