Important personnel decision at third division club Zwickau: Defense chief and veteran Davy Frick (32) extended his contract on Tuesday until 2023 plus an option for another year.
For Frick, the signature was also an affair of the heart. The defender: “For me, FSV has been pure passion on the pitch for years. There is an extremely hot atmosphere in the stadium with the fans. We are a family club with simple football. That is the basis that must always be lived.”
Head of sport Toni Wachsmuth (35): “Davy is an absolute identification figure for the entire club. He embodies exactly the virtues that are very important in the 3rd division. We hope that he stays fit and will lead the team in the new season as well.”
Frick is entering his twelfth season with Zwickau. The professional is proud of that. But the defender also knows that the coming season will be a tour de force due to the announced savings at FSV. Frick: “The task of staying up in the league is becoming all the more difficult. But resisting it also makes it very appealing. I’m really up for that.”
