How much did the premium of PMJJBY increase?
The central government has decided to increase the premium of both the schemes. The annual premium of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) has increased from Rs 330 to Rs 436. The government has increased the amount of premium by Rs 1.25 per day.
How much did the premium of PMSBY increase?
Apart from this, the government has decided to increase the premium of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) from Rs 12 to Rs 20. Let us tell you that earlier this premium was Rs 12 per annum. It has been increased by Rs 8.
How much has been paid so far?
As of March 31, the number of active subscribers under PMJJBY and PMSBY were 6.4 crore and 22 crore respectively. Under the PMSBY scheme, an amount of Rs 1,134 crore has been collected by the insurers for premium and claims of Rs. 2,513 crore has been paid under the Suraksha Bima Yojana till March 31. At the same time, Rs 9,737 crore has been collected by the insurers towards premium and claims of Rs. 14,144 crore has been paid under PMJJBY till 31st March.
What is PMJJBY Scheme?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, you get the facility of an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh. To take advantage of this scheme, your age should be between 18 to 50 years. The premium amount of this plan is deducted through auto-debit mode. Your account should have KYC facility. Let us tell you that as soon as your age crosses 55 years, then this policy is closed.
What is Suraksha Insurance Plan?
PMSBY is a one year accident insurance scheme. It is also renewed from year to year and offers coverage for death or disability due to accident. Persons in the age group of 18-70 years having a savings account with a bank or post office are eligible for enrollment under this scheme. There is a provision of giving 2 lakh rupees (in case of partial disability Rs 1 lakh) for death or disability due to accident. As per the ministry’s data, enrollment under the scheme has exceeded 28.37 crore till April 27, 2022 and an amount of Rs 1,930 crore has also been paid for 97,227 claims.
