Corona alert before the Australian Open!
Between 500 and 600 people involved in the Grand Slam tournament are said to be under quarantine. This is what the news site “Inside the games” reports.
Reason: A 26-year-old employee at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne tested positive for Covid-19. The man worked in the quarantine hotel of the tennis tournament. The last time he was on duty was on January 29th.
Players are said to have been among the people who were in contact with the man. All must now go into self-isolation until they can show a negative test.
Victoria State Premier Daniel Andrews stated, “This is a case. People don’t have to panic. “
There have already been a total of ten positive cases in the quarantine hotels, three of them with the British variant. The tournament starts next Monday and should not be affected by the incident now. 30,000 spectators are initially admitted.
