Just three days after the clear defeat in Milan, Alba Berlin made amends in the Euroleague. On Thursday evening, the Bundesliga basketball team surprisingly won 100: 92 (51:50) at Valencia Basket. For Alba it was the fourth win in the eleventh game. The best Berlin throwers were Jayson Granger with 17 as well as Luke Sikma and Johannes Thiemann with 15 points each.
Coach Aito Garcia Reneses had to do without the injured duo Marcus Eriksson and Ben Lammers. Nevertheless, his team got off to a good start and quickly took a 7-0 lead. Valencia promptly countered with a 10-0 run, but the guests were not impressed. They took the lead back, which they did not give up until the break.
Alba was particularly good on the offensive. Whenever Valencia came up again, the Berliners had an answer ready. A good two and a half minutes before the break they even took a double-digit lead for the first time (47:37). However, they made a few mistakes afterwards and the Spaniards came back to one point by the time they switched sides.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Valencia took the lead again (54:51). But Alba struck back again. Thanks to good defensive work, the guests were able to break away again. Shortly before the end of the third quarter, the lead was even 20 points (83:63). Alba could no longer take that away. Valencia couldn’t get closer than eight points.
