Are you serious? -Saarbrücken shoots itself out of the promotion race

1. FC Saarbrücken is running out of breath! FCS lost 1-0 to Viktoria Köln.

Particularly bitter: The goal was made by a man from Saarbrücken…

Coach Uwe Koschinat makes two changes to the 0-1 draw in Wiesbaden, bringing in Jalen Hawkins and Pius Krätschmer for Mario Müller and Dave Gnaase.

But the plan to finally not fall behind again doesn’t work out – and FCS is helping with that. After a cross from the right, right-back Dominik Ernst shoots the ball into his own goal (7′).

Goalkeeper Daniel Batz can only look puzzled. Then the first FCS chance. But Tobias Jänicke’s shot from 15 meters is too out of place and no problem for Viktoria keeper Nicolas. Saarbrücken comes up with little, has more possession of the ball, but is too unimaginative. Krätschmer’s direct shot also lands in Nicolas’ arms (26′).

At the break, the FCS is accompanied by many of the 6419 spectators whistling into the cabin.

Saarbrücken comes out of the dressing room with a little more steam, but doesn’t create any good chances. If so, then there are good free-kick positions. The execution of the standards but weak. FCS always have to be very careful at the back anyway, Batz saves against Philipp’s treacherous flick (63′).

Saarbrücken threw everything forward in the closing stages, but there was not much more than a shot from Groiß, which went just over the goal (82′).

FCS remains fourth for the time being, but can still be overtaken by Osnabrück and Mannheim…
