2:1 against Würzburg – Jacob pushes Saarbrücken to third place!

1. FC Saarbrücken moves up to 3rd place, after a weak performance and a deficit, wins 2-1 against Würzburg.

Coach Uwe Koschinat (50) had to do without four players from the Magdeburg bankruptcy (1: 2): the striker Adriano Grimaldi (30), who was injured in the calf, as well as Luca Kerber (19), who was suffering from Corona, Dominik Ernst (31 ) and Robin Scheu (26).

And it was not for nothing that Koschinat had warned of bottom Würzburg before the kick-off: “A team that shouldn’t actually be down there.”

It also starts off really badly: After 90 seconds Daniel Batz’s goal rang. 1.97 meter giant André Becker heads a cross from the left into the goal for Würzburg’s lead (2′). Dave Gnaase’s first FCS finish after Sebastian Jacob’s layoff goes over it (7′). Krätschmer’s free kick from 18 meters is no problem for Würzburg keeper Bonmann.

The FCS over long stretches extremely erratic and without speed. That may be due to the changes, but the Franconians with the better game system. Batz fishes a shot from Kopacz out of the near post (41′).

Also in round 2: Saarbrücken tries, but harmless. Jacob’s shot from the edge of the box goes over it (60′). And then the bell finally rang: corner kick Günther-Schmidt and captain Manuel Zeitz pushed the ball into the goal with his shoulder (68th) – 1:1. Huge luck then after 73 minutes that Breunig shoots wide from eleven meters (73′).

But Saarbrücken turns the game with the help of Würzburg keeper Bonmann. He hits the ball, Sebastian Jacob pushes the ball into the empty goal to make it 2-1 (81st) – and FCS jumps to third place.
